He much prefers outboard gear as opposed to plug-ins, because he says that they just sound better, but the main plug-in(s) he uses (and endorses) is the Waves SSL 4000 bundle. The main reason he uses it is ” The whole process of comping down to and mixing from 44 tracks appears to offer him an elegant way of organizing his material and sharpening his creative focus.” He says it has a sound to it that a computer just does not have.
